From responding to international RFPs through to the signing of contracts, multilingual communication is an integral part of most large-scale transportation projects today.

To get the business, your translated documents need to arrive on time and be accurate. LexWorks knows this. Consequently, we will provide a preliminary translation of RFP – or tender – documents within 48-72 hours – regardless of the length of those documents so that your teams can start working.

Once the deal is closed, delivering on the contract specifics may take several years, during which time all kinds of manuals (technical, maintenance, training, health & safety), and documents (receipt reports, correspondence, contracts), need to be translated and/or updated. LexWorks uses tools for managing terminology and internal repetitions, which enable timely and cost-effective management of new translation and updates alike.

What You May Not Know About Machine Translation

Machine translation can deliver quality that is as good as – or better than – a human translation. To get to this level of quality, two elements are utterly essential: customizing the MT engine on the specific terminology, and post-editing of the raw translation output from a SMART* machine translation process.

When working on large-scale projects, the MT output acts as a first draft, saving valuable time but also ensuring terminological consistency across many thousands of pages, the way only technology can do. This means that by pairing people + technology, our machine translation solutions can be successfully applied to critical content – including manuals, reports, specifications, software and training material – to ensure significant time and cost-savings.

For extremely time-sensitive documents, such as RFPs, MT can provide the edge that means the difference between success and failure. This is because of a process LexWorks has specially designed for this kind of time- and mission-critical work. So that teams can begin right away to work on international tender responses, LexWorks provides an immediate first draft of the contents of the RFP. This first draft, while not perfect, gives internal teams the information they need to start work. As the post-editors progress through the text, making further improvements, the first draft is updated. When the tender documents are ready to be returned, the process is reversed, but in this case, impeccable quality is needed. The post-editors spend longer on the documents, but still machine translation has cut the translation time by half, giving the internal teams more time to prepare their response compared to the competition, which could increase their chances of success.
