Translators without Borders

LexWorks is proud to have founded Translators without Borders (TWB), the world’s largest humanitarian translation organization.

A non-profit like Doctors without Borders*, TWB supports global aid by donating the time of skilled translators to translate content that saves lives in the developing world. Members of the LexWorks management team and extended team volunteer their time as translators, trainers and project managers.

Translators without Borders is the North American affiliate of Traducteurs sans frontières (TSF), also a non-profit organization, founded by Lori Thicke and Ros Smith-Thomas in 1993. Lori and Ros are the two principals of LexWorks.

The mission of Translators without Borders / Traducteurs sans Frontières is to link the world’s translators to vetted NGOs that focus on health, nutrition and education.

Today the two organizations donate more than six million translated words per year to NGOs such as Médecins sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders), Médecins du Monde, Action Against Hunger, Oxfam, UNICEF and Handicap International.

In 2012, Translators without Borders established a translator training center in Nairobi, Kenya, to build local capacity to translate life-saving health information into African languages.
